Referred by
The Referred By module lets you define and manage the referral sources available when creating or editing customer records. Each entry represents a channel or person through which a customer discovered your company — for example, a friend recommendation, Instagram, Facebook, a magazine ad, or a trade show.
By maintaining a clean Referred By list, your team can:
- Track which marketing channels are generating the most new customers
- Identify top referral sources to prioritize in your marketing strategy
- Segment customers by acquisition source for targeted follow-up
- Generate accurate Sales & Marketing Reports on customer origin
To create/edit referred by:
- On the side panel go to General Setup
- Select Marketing

3. Click on Create and Edit Referred By Entries
4. Once you click in here, then you will have the option to see who referred the customer, also you have the option to enter a new entry or edit the current information.

Field Definitions

Main fields

| ID | Auto-generated numeric | System identifier. Read-only. Assigned automatically when the record is created. |
| Referred By | Text | The label for this referral source as it will appear in the Referred By dropdown on the customer record. Use clear, specific names (e.g., "Instagram", "Attended Party", "Friend Referral", "Magazine Ad"). |
| Is Active | Toggle (ON/OFF) | Controls whether this entry appears as an option in the Referred By dropdown. Set to OFF to hide obsolete sources without deleting historical data. Default: ON. |
| Show Web | Toggle (ON/OFF) | Controls whether this referral source is visible on the Elecate Online Portal / Shopping Cart. When ON, customers filling out the web form can select this source. When OFF, it only appears in the internal desktop application. Default: ON. |
