[General Setup](https://faq.elecate.com/faq/general-setup?hsLang=en) # Discount Reasons Discount Reasons define the standardized justifications available when applying a discount to a customer's proposal, order, or invoice in Elecate. Each entry configured here becomes a selectable reason that your team must provide when issuing a discount — creating an auditable record of why pricing was reduced. By maintaining a defined Discount Reasons list, your company can: - Enforce accountability when discounts are applied — every discount requires a documented reason - Track discount patterns across customers, events, and salespeople - Generate reports on discount frequency and value by reason type - Reduce ad-hoc or undocumented discounting behavior - Support financial reviews and audits with a clear discount trail How to create or edit the discount reasons: 1\. If you need to create a new record, click on **New Entry,** in the Code field you need to enter the name of discount **(ex. Read-only. Assigned automatically on creation. | | **Code** | Text | The name of the discount reason as it will appear in the discount dropdown throughout the system (e.g., "Charity", "Family", "Non-Profit", "Loyalty", "Promotional Campaign"). Keep names concise and self-explanatory. | | **Code Type** | Dropdown | Categorizes this entry within the Application Codes system. Must be set to **Discount Reason** for entries in this FAQ. The Application Codes window hosts multiple code types — selecting the wrong type will miscategorize the entry. | | **Is Active** | Toggle (ON/OFF) | Controls whether this reason appears in the discount dropdown. Set to OFF to hide obsolete reasons without deleting historical data.
